Ron Berg is a well-respected and highly accomplished behavioral healthcare professional with more than 30 years employment with Prelude. Ron began his involvement as a graduate student intern which grew into a full time counselor position. Ron was named Associate Director in 1985, promoted to Vice President of Clinical Operations in 2002 and was named CEO in 2010. During his tenure with Prelude, he has led the organization in becoming one of the most comprehensive non-profit behavioral health agencies in Iowa, providing best in class service while turning no one away.

Throughout his career with Prelude, Ron has been instrumental in developing programs to benefit those seeking help with addiction and mental health issues, including initiating Synchrony’s Employee Assistance Program. He has also lent his expertise through participation on the Empowerment Board, Decat Committee and System of Care organizations. Most recently, he served as president of the Iowa Behavioral Health Association (IBHA).

Ron is a graduate of Iowa State University and earned his Master’s in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Iowa.

Chris Russell oversees accounting, payroll, and revenue cycle operations. Her background in finance and internal auditing provides her with extensive knowledge and experience related to the financial challenges and opportunities facing the behavioral health industry.

Chris earned her Bachelor of General Studies degree with an emphasis in Business Administration and Psychology in 1991 from the University of Iowa. She also received a Bank Operations diploma from the American Bankers Association. She began her career with Prelude in 1993 as an Accounting Technician and was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2008. Chris also serves as Treasurer for the Bicyclists of Iowa City.

Fonda Frazier began her career at Prelude in 1984 as a counselor and was promoted to Clinical Director in 1988. With 30 years of experience working with substance abuse and mental health disorders, she is responsible for the design and implementation of all treatment services offered by Prelude. Aiming to provide the highest sophistication in treatment, Fonda is regularly revamping services to best fit the needs of the individuals seeking recovery.

Fonda holds a Master of Counseling and Human Development from the University of Iowa, certification as an International Advanced Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (IAADC), and status as a Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (M.I.N.T). She has also achieved certification as a Multidimensional Family Therapist. As such, she works closely with youth and their families as they pursue recovery from their addiction and work toward healing the family unit.

Fonda holds an Adjunct Faculty appointment with the University of Iowa Vocational and Rehabilitation Counseling Program. She has been teaching at the University for over 15 years to undergraduate and graduate students, including Motivational Interviewing courses for the past 9 years. She has also presented at the University of Iowa IHELP workshop, formerly known as the Annual Summer School for Helping Professionals. Fonda has been a former board member of the Rape Victims Advocacy Program in Iowa City and the Mental Health Institute Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor Training Program, Independence, Iowa. She assisted with curriculum development for the Professional Addiction Counselor Training program (P.A.C.T.) and presented workshops statewide to participants on tools and techniques in working with persons diagnosed with substance use disorders. Ms. Frazier conducts workshops statewide on Motivational Interviewing as well as, topics specific to substance use and mental health disorders. Most recently, Fonda holds an appointment on the Iowa Certification Board.

Mike Rouse spent sixteen years in the social work field before joining the Prelude team in 1999.  He joined the Prevention department in 1999.  He moved to Information Technology Department in 2000.  Mike specialized in staff training, management and operational reporting and coordination of Prelude’s electronic health record. As Information Technology Director, Mike is responsible for the oversight of the technology infrastructure to insure effective daily operations of technology services for the other Prelude staff as well as the protection of patient confidentiality.  Mike brings his years of experience as a social worker and expertise with electronic health records to inform the decisions about technology priorities at Prelude.  Mike provides leadership and management to a team of information technology specialists. Mike earned a bachelor of Science from Iowa State University in 1983 with a double major in Psychology and Social Work.

Mandy began employment at Prelude in June 2019.  She brings over 10 years of experience in the field of substance use and mental health.   She is a licensed mental health counselor, certified alcohol and drug counselor, and nationally certified counselor.  Prior to joining the Prelude team, Mandy held positions as an outpatient clinical supervisor and program manager for women and children’s residential program, women’s residential program with detox/withdrawal management services, and transitional living program.  Mandy has direct experience with gambling treatment services, concerned persons counseling, and eating disorder programming.  She has implemented culturally responsive and gender-specific treatment services.   In addition, Mandy has knowledge of evidenced based trauma curriculum and creating trauma informed recovery environments.

Sandy Durbala joined the Prelude team in 2009 to help further philanthropic support for the benefit of our patients and their families. Managing the marketing and fundraising efforts, she is responsible for increasing awareness and advocacy while building relationships and connecting donors to the institutional needs. Previous to her tenure at Prelude, Sandy served as Associate Director of Planned Giving at a 4-year private liberal arts college and was employed in the banking industry.

Sandy is a graduate of the American Institute of Business. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and served as a member and past president of the Mid-Iowa Planned Giving Council. Sandy is a member of the Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Program, Class of 2013.

Melinda Pollmeier joined the Prelude team in 2017 and brings over 10 years of HR experience in both not-for-profit and for-profit companies. She is responsible all functions of HR including employee relations, benefit administration, recruiting and training. Melinda recognizes that one of the organization’s most valuable assets are the employees. She is passionate about helping Prelude optimize their human capital to best support the organization’s mission and provide excellent patient care. Melinda received a BS in Psychology from Iowa State University and a MBA from Upper Iowa University.
